CSG is a full-service urban garden design/build firm headquartered in Evanston, Illinois. We are specialists in the design, construction and installation of urban gardens. Our design approach envisions the transformation of entire spaces, and we employ a multi-disciplinary design team to turn our vision into reality.

We divide our work into two categories:

LANDSCAPE GARDENS
An exciting new generation of materials, products, technologies and installation techniques for the garden allows us to create a flow between indoors and outdoors as never before, and makes possible the creation of amazingly complete garden rooms. Some examples include: availability of a vastly larger variety of cut natural stone, exotic hardwoods and rustic fibers and fabrics; architectural elements and distinctive ornamentation from many countries; detailing elements of glass, stone and metal; pergolas, shade canopies, tension structures and other screening and shading materials in fantastic forms; dramatic, professional-grade low-voltage landscape illumination systems; sophisticated water-saving micro-irrigation technologies; a wide array of water features; designer planting containers and urns; and a yearly wave of bold new plant introductions.

Add to this an explosion of functional, all-weather furnishings and ornamentation products such as grills, food prep areas, wet bars, outdoor kitchens and accessories; furniture, cushions and pillows; carpets and rugs; artwork and sculpture; audio, video and wireless systems; fireplaces and fire pits; and hydrotherapy spas. Anything is possible.


ROOFTOP GARDENS
Almost any garden design which is conceivable for the ground plane is also possible on a rooftop, terrace, garage roof or deck.

We are very excited about rooftop gardening, rooftop living and an evolving rooftop aesthetic. Rooftop living is in its infancy, but is a huge market with enormous potential. No longer are penthouse gardens only for the super-rich. Today many elevated surfaces can be built-out to create fantastic outdoor garden rooms and unique living spaces.

At CSG, we have a name for this appreciation of nature, good design, fine living, the sky and sun and moon, food and wine, music, the stars, the quiet above the streets, family and friends. We call it THE ROOFTOP LIVING LIFESTYLE. We intend to articulate this lifestyle, and to promote the benefits of rooftop living in our work.
