One of our best and longest-term clients called last year wanting to discuss refreshing his charming, intimate Lincoln Park backyard and garage roof deck. We’d been planting and maintaining the entire property for years, and welcomed his thoughts and suggestions. Primary was building a shade pergola for the garage roof, which now frames the space and allows for wonderful night-lighting of the huge array of colorful annuals we plant for him each year.
On the ground, we wrapped the old crabapple tree which stretches over the patio with colorful “Christmas” lights, as well as running LED rope lights around the perimeter of the planting beds. The existing low-voltage landscape lighting also helps illuminate the wall fountain, espaliered pear tree, patio pavers and an upright magnolia tree. And our client had a sophisticated sound system installed to keep the younger generation happy and hanging around on warm summer nights.
The result is a sparkling jewel box of a garden, tucked away in Lincoln Park. Brilliant!
