Irises add a dash of color
Sunken lower garden features synthetic turf
Cedar bench rests on Valders stone
Our clients wished to make their garage roof deck a leisurely place to hang out with their young family, friends and neighbors. Their home builder had erected a nice-looking shade pergola which anchored the space; now what was needed was some coziness.
A mix of shrubs and vining plants create fragrance and green interest; LiveRoof™ green roof modules fit perfectly in a drainage basin.
We started by running electrical, water and gas lines to the roof, hiding them from site, to handle the irrigation, lighting and grill duties. Then we designed and built cedar daybeds with Sunbrella® cushions, and placed aluminum containers strategically to break up the space. A mix of shrubs and vining plants create fragrance and green interest; LiveRoof™ green roof modules fit perfectly in a drainage basin. A set of our client’s tall, elegant candleholders create a wonderful glow, accompanied by the low-voltage spotlights installed carefully throughout the site. Cozy indeed!
In the small lower yard, SynLawn™ synthetic turf provides usable space for small athletes, and a cedar bench provides handy storage.
In the front yard, columnar oak trees create a buffer to the neighboring property, and the white Valders stone patio glows in the evening. Containers filled with annuals add color and interest, and native grasses create more structure.
