Light from the splashing spillways dances and plays on the surrounding walls and surfaces
In part 2 of our series, our clients requested a complete re-do of their garage roof deck and modest raised rear terrace off the kitchen. We’d previously designed and installed a rooftop garden on the house, and the thought was to continue the contemporary design theme downstairs. Obliged.
Oh, and can you put a basketball court on the garage roof for the kids? Of course we can.
The necessity of a physical restraint for wayward basketballs evolved into a towering wall of ipe wood clad to a metal support system, which now dominates the space with a warm glow. Next there followed the ipe & porcelain grill buildout, ipe accents throughout the space, railings, landscape lighting for the upright hornbeam trees in aluminum planters and stairsteps, micro-irrigation and custom wall planters with tropical plantings. Last but certainly not least, CSG commissioned our friends at Ore Designs to fabricate a custom water feature affixed to the stairwall. In the evening, light from the splashing spillways dances and plays on the surrounding walls and surfaces. Janus et Cie furniture rounds out the “softscaping.”
The only question now is: do we want to relax Upstairs? Or Downstairs?
